Broncos hoping Jerry Jeudy, Pat Surtain can play this week

Broncos are crossing their fingers for the availability of Jerry Jeudy and Pat Surtain this week.

The Denver Broncos were worried when both wide receiver Jerry Jeudy (ribs) and cornerback Pat Surtain (shoulder) left Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans and did not return.

Fortunately, the team got good news for both players on Monday.

“Jerry and Pat — good news for them — they’ll be day-to-day,” coach Nathaniel Hackett said. “We thought that both of those might be bigger, longer injuries. So, we’re excited that their day-to-day.

“Not sure if they’re going to be able to [play] in the game, but we’re hoping, and we’re crossing our fingers for that.”

Denver’s staff has not said definitively if Jeudy or Surtain will be able to play against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3, but it’s a great sign that neither player has a long-term injury.

Even if the Broncos already think one or both players will sit out on Sunday, they’re unlikely to say so during the week to keep the 49ers on their toes. Denver will release its first injury report on Wednesday afternoon.
