Brian Robinson Jr. back to feeling like himself ahead of Commanders 2023 season

Brian Robinson Jr. says he feels a night and day difference from last season to this now

Former Alabama running back Brian Robinson’s dream of making it to the NFL came true 15 months ago when the Washington Commanders selected him in the third round, No. 98 overall, in the 2022 NFL draft.

Then, in an instant, Robinson almost had it all taken away as he was the victim of an armed robbery that resulted in a gunshot wound to his knee. He was fortunate to escape without life-threatening injuries. The injury was suffered on Aug. 28, just two weeks before the start of the season. Robinson missed the first four games of the season but appeared in 12 total games throughout his rookie season. He had 205 carries for 797 yards and two touchdowns, pretty remarkable numbers given the circumstances.

Robinson has now had an entire offseason to move on from what happened and focus on his professional football career. Mentally and physically he just appears to be in a much better place than he was this time last year as he said, “Not one time I felt like Brian Robinson, that’s night and day from then to now. People should expect a lot of great things to come.”

The Commanders will be starting second-year quarterback Sam Howell who was a fifth-round draft pick out of North Carolina. The Commanders have a solid receiving duo in star Terry McLaurin and 2022 first-round draft pick, Jahan Dotson, but Robinson will be the featured player in the offense. If he had 205 carries in his rookie season where he missed time for a gunshot wound and had a veteran QB, then it’s scary to imagine the type of numbers he could have this year.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Robinson and other former Alabama players now in the NFL as the 2023 regular season approaches.
