Brian Kelly describes his emotions after Florida win

Kelly said he didn’t feel like the Tigers caught a lot of breaks on Saturday and thought they deserved to win.

It was an emotional night in Gainesville, Florida, as [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] became the first coach in LSU history to defeat Auburn and Florida on the road in the same season.

Neither of the wins came easy, either. LSU escaped Jordan-Hare Stadium with a 21-17 victory after only passing for five yards in the second half. Florida was the second true road game of the year and this time the offense came out swinging.

[autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag] looked the best he has looked all season, the offensive line looked good, and [autotag]Josh Williams[/autotag] had a great game. The defense wasn’t perfect, and special teams had some struggles, but it was still a great win. Kelly was asked about his visible emotions on the sideline after the game.

“You’re kind of trying to build this thing,” he said. “You know, I just felt like we didn’t get a lot of breaks tonight. It just seemed like every replay went against us. It seemed like we got — you know, Jack (Bech) is our best returner. And he’s trying to return one when maybe he should have fair caught it. He’s our best guy and it gets on the ground, I just felt like our guys deserve to win that game.

“So when something went well, my emotions probably showed. And I felt like we deserved a break or two. Sure, the play deep to Jaray (Jenkins) is that. A veteran play where he sees all size and then just the throw he made, it was kind of one of those throws you’ve been encouraging, right? Yeah, it’s, listen, you’ve got them offside. It was called our Freeze and Go. We’re trying to get them offside. But we’ve got to go attached to it.”

The Tigers return back home this weekend to take on the Ole Miss Rebels. That game is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff on CBS.
