Brian Daboll unleashed his rage on a ref who gifted the 49ers a first down with questionable penalty

Brian Daboll was FURIOUS with the referees.

One thing is clear about Brian Daboll and how he coaches the New York Giants. If he thinks his team got screwed, he’s absolutely going to speak his mind and let the officials know about it. We saw this again Thursday night when the officiating crew seemed to create a discrepancy between what it called on the San Francisco 49ers and Daboll’s Giants.

But one sequence really stood out.

As San Francisco tried to get some breathing room early in the third quarter, they faced a key drive-extending third down. The Giants would get the stop … until Kayvon Thibodeaux was called for an illegal hands-to-the-face penalty that gave San Francisco a free first down. At best, Thibodeaux did make contact, but not in an egregious way. At worst, it could be argued it was a little bit nitpicky. The 49ers would go on to tack on a field goal for a 20-12 lead.

Naturally, Daboll voiced his displeasure with the call in a furious manner on the sideline:

Honestly, the Giants were giving San Francisco a surprisingly competitive game. It’s penalties like this that can swing games, and Daboll knows it. Purely as a coach vouching for his players, his gripe is legitimate.
