The Philadelphia 76ers are a team that is now trying to win based on defense and speed. They want to use their versatility to get out and run at every chance that they get and that is why they moved Shake Milton into the starting lineup and Ben Simmons to the power forward spot.
The idea is to create havoc and use their length to get out and run as much as they can. That idea gets pushed more off the bench as rookie Matisse Thybulle continues to impress on that end of the floor. The rookie already has five steals combined in their first two scrimmage games after not playing basketball for four months.
He continues to impress coach Brett Brown who is blown away by his ability to get deflections which then leads to steals. Those steals then lead to break opportunities for himself and Simmons.
“I think that his activity is as good as its ever been,” said Brown. “He’s come into this thing excellent. I think there’s a focus on deflections and trying to get a hand on balls has been excellent. We need him to be.”
The Sixers have forced 35 turnovers combined so far in their first two scrimmage games and that is thanks in large part of Thybulle’s ability to get into the passing lanes and cause havoc from that point on. His defensive acumen continues to impress for a guy his age and so young.
Philadelphia will take on the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday in their final scrimmage game. [lawrence-related id=35578,35572,35562]
