Alabama’s Star wide receiver Jalen Waddle suffered an ankle injury in the opening kickoff and is questionable to return. The junior’s ankle was caught underneath a Tennessee defender and he was seen immediately limping off the field.
Waddle was then seen being helped to the locker room by Alabama trainers.
If Waddle isn’t able to return, sophomore Slade Bolden will see addition reps at both wide receiver and as a return man. Bolden caught a 12-yard pass from Mac Jones on Alabama’s opening drive and has shown flashes when given the opportunity.
Fellow wide receiver DeVonta Smith is in line for another big day if Waddle is unable to return. Smith caught 11 passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns against Georgia, and he could be in line for the same type of game against Tennessee.
Sophomore John Metchie III should be in line for more targets as well.
Let’s hope the injury to Waddle isn’t too serious and he is able to return later in the game.
