Breaking down the terms of Dolphins RB Salvon Ahmed’s new contract

Here’s what Dolphins RB Salvon Ahmed’s new contract looks like.

Before the start of free agency, the Miami Dolphins already had four running backs under contract for the 2024 season, but they decided to bring back their lone free agent at the position – Salvon Ahmed.

Ahmed, 25, agreed to a one-year deal worth $1.29 million (none guaranteed) to rejoin the Dolphins for his fifth season with the team.

According to Over the Cap, he will receive a $1.13 million base salary and another $167,500 in per-game roster bonuses. He’ll count for  $1.06 million against the cap in 2024.

This deal doesn’t guarantee Ahmed a spot on the roster in September, as releasing him would save all $1.06 million in cap space and wouldn’t leave the team with any dead cap.

The former Washington Husky will still have to prove his worth to earn a spot on the 53-man roster or the practice squad, as he’ll be competing with Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson Jr., De’Von Achane and Chris brooks.
