Brandon McManus says NFL might not have any preseason games

Broncos kicker Brandon McManus says the NFL might not have a preseason this summer.

News broke Wednesday that the NFL will cut preseason from four games down to two games this summer. Broncos kicker Brandon McManus, the team’s NFLPA rep, says preseason might be trimmed down even more — and possibly eliminated this year because of COVID-19.

“Be ready for 1 or 0 preseason games,” McManus tweeted on Wednesday. “Won’t be 2.”

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported Wednesday that the NFLPA “hasn’t signed off” on a two-game preseason schedule, which might be why the NFL hasn’t officially announced it yet.

“Some in union leadership continue to question whether it’s smart to play ANY preseason games,” Garafolo tweeted.

NFLPA reps will have a call today to discuss the proposed preseason changes, according to Garafolo. McManus will presumably be part of that call and it’s safe to assume he doesn’t plan to agree to a two-game schedule.

McManus has also been vocal in response to the possibility of teams flying to games on game days this season. The kicker tweeted there’s “no chance” Denver players would fly to an East Coast game on the day of a contest.
