B/R gives Sixers a B+ grade for their offseason additions to begin season

The Philadelphia 76ers receive a grade of B-plus for the impact their offseason additions have made on the floor.

The Philadelphia 76ers had a busy offseason. They brought in big additions PJ Tucker, De’Anthony Melton, Danuel House Jr. and Montrezl Harrell to improve the supporting cast around star duo Joel Embiid and James Harden.

The Sixers are looking to build off their three-game winning streak after the slow start. With a two-week sample, Bleacher Report gave each team a grade for its offseason additions and gave Philadelphia a B-plus:

Tucker is playing the role we all expected as a starting forward who defends, screens and hits open three-pointers. He’s gone 9-of-18 to begin the season (50 percent) and still looks like a valuable role player at age 37.

Melton is settling in nicely as the team’s sixth man and spot starter and is once again near the league lead in steals (2.0 per game). He’s a defensive safety net when players like Tyrese Maxey and James Harden are getting torched on the perimeter.

Harrell is fighting for time as a backup big and is averaging just 10.0 minutes in his seven games. He’s a better offensive option than players like Tucker and Paul Reed behind Joel Embiid and will likely get time based on specific matchups.

The Sixers have been up and down to begin the season, but championships aren’t won in October and November. There are still 74 games to go in the 2022-23 season, and that gives Philadelphia plenty of time to figure everything out on the floor.
