The NBA has reached roughly a quarter way through its 2023-24 season by now, with some clarity about how each ball club’s rookies have done so far this season coming into focus. But not all teams have a rookie on their roster, and at least at the NBA level, not every team has seen how its newest players look given many teams, like the Boston Celtics, have yet to see their players on the court outside of a G League context.
For that reason, in a recent assessment by Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey of the league’s 2023 rookie class, Celtics first-year forward Jordan Walsh has earned himself an “incomplete” grade given the paucity of play from the Arkansas alum among his peers in the NBA.
“The Celtics might be the best team in the NBA, and they haven’t had a single minute logged by a rookie this season,” writes Bailey.

“Walsh, who was selected near the top of the second round, has appeared in 14 G League games, but he’s yet to debut for the big club.”
The 6-foot-7 forward has put up 13.9 points, 6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.5 steals per game in 29.6 minutes of floor time per game while shooting 42.4% from the floor overall, 31.1% from 3, and 68.0% from the stripe, his accuracy from all three contexts hinting that it could be a while before we see Walsh with the parent club.
