Tua Tagovailoa currently holds claim to an undefeated record as an NFL starting quarterback after Miami’s Week 8 win over the Los Angeles Rams.
While he wasn’t the flashy star of a quarterback many are used to seeing, he got the job done with 12 completions for 93 yards and a single passing touchdown.
The win relied heavily on the defense, but didn’t give Tagovailoa and the offense an opportunity to make an impact with only 47 offensive plays.
Now, as the Dolphins travel to Arizona to face off against Kyler Murray and the Cardinals, it is likely that Tagovailoa will have plenty of opportunities to showcase his arm talent.
Kyle Crabbs of DolphinsWire made five bold predictions for the Dolphins’ upcoming contest against the Cardinals, and he has a big one for Tagovailoa.
Can Tua Tagovailoa pass for over 250 yards?
“Law of averages suggests we’ll see a much bigger, better performance for the offense against the Cardinals than we saw last week against the Rams,” writes Crabbs. “And with the running game compromised with injuries to Miami’s top two running backs, the pressure will fall on Tagovailoa to have a high-volume effort on Sunday. He might not push the ball down the field with frequency or efficiency, but expect Miami to sprinkle in plenty of throws inside of 15-yards and ask their young quarterback to keep the offense moving in what should be a closely contested football game.”
There’s no way of telling what’s going through head coach Brian Flores’ mind, but it would surprising to not see a heavier volume of passing attempts from Tagovailoa.
