Blake Griffin has ‘fit in quickly’ to the Boston Celtics, according to Al Horford

‘He’s one of us already,’ suggested Boston’s elder statesman.

It seems the elder statesman of the Boston Celtics is happy to have another veteran big man around. Forward Al Horford gave big man Blake Griffin the stamp of approval after practice on Monday.

“He’s a great guy to have around,” said Horford via CLNS. “He has a lot of perspective about the game; it’s been nice to have him around. He’s a vet that gets it; he wants to be a part of winning (and) he wants to do big things.”

Signed by the team to give Horford some support in the frontcourt — particularly while the team is without starting center Robert Williams — Griffin had a 7-point, 9-rebound preseason debut for the team on Friday.

“He’s fit in quickly; he’s one of us already,” explained Horford of the onetime Oklahoma standout’s near-seamless integration into Boston’s rotations thus far.

“(Griffin) fits in, and all of us are looking to take this journey together,” Horford added for emphasis.
