Bills’ Stefon Diggs on Jets: ‘They’ve got a hell of a defense’

Stefon Diggs says he’s seen other young, top rookie CBs like Sauce in his career but still knows the #Jets have a great defense:

All eyes will be on Josh Allen and Aaron Rodgers when the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets faceoff under the national spotlight in Week 1.

But defense will play a part too, and the Jets already sported one of the NFL’s top units before Rodgers arrived.

It’s a group that’s not only talented, but confident. Both Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs admitted it.

“They’re a pretty good group, really good group for that matter,” Allen said. “They got rushers that have motors, they sub those guys in and out so they’re fresh. Their DBs are smart. I know (Sauce Gardner), he’s a great player, he gets a lot of credit, and I think (DJ Reed) is also pretty dang good.

Gardner does get a lot of credit as Allen noted, but for good reason. It’s likely that Diggs will see a lot of him on Monday when the two sides faceoff.

However, it’s not a matchup Diggs is going to overblow. Diggs was respectful of his opponent, but did say he’s seen other first-year cornerbacks burst onto the scene like Gardner did in 2022 such as Jalen Ramsey.

“They’re a real good defense. They didn’t do anything except get better. Especially defensively, I think it’s another year in that system,” Diggs said.
