The Buffalo Bills have signed safety Mike Edwards to a one-year deal.

The team announced the transaction on Wednesday:

A third-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft, Edwards entered the league with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He spent four seasons with the Bucs before signing a one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency during the 2023 offseason.

A versatile safety, Edwards made 51 tackles, including two for loss, with an interception, five pass breakups and a touchdown on a fumble recovery. Pro Football Focus graded the 27-year-old a slightly below average 56.5 overall mark in 2023.

With the Bills already releasing Jordan Poyer, it appears the team is prepping for life without Micah Hyde as well by signing Edwards.

In addition to Edwards signing, free-agent safety from the Indianapolis Colts, Julian Blackmon, also took a visit to Buffalo.

On paper as of now, Edwards could have an opportunity to start next to Taylor Rapp in the Bills secondary once next season starts. Rapp signed a three-year extension with the team earlier this spring… but there is plenty of time until the 2024 regular season begins, including the upcoming NFL draft:
