#Bills’ Sean McDermott on Jake Fromm: ‘He doesn’t seem to be fazed’

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott was pleased with what he got out of quarterback Jake Fromm in his team’s preseason win over the Detroit Lions.

That doesn’t mean he was all that surprised by it.

Fromm, essentially still a rookie after he quarantined all of the 2020 season, connected on a 40-yard bomb on the final drive of the game for the Bills offense. Tyler Bass finished it off with a field goal for a 16-15 final.

Reflecting, the coach said Fromm’s past shined through for the Bills.

“The thing with Jake is, he’s been there before. Go back to when Brandon (Beane) scouted him,” McDermott said via press conference. “He’s been in big games before, in those moments. He just doesn’t seem to be fazed by those moments.”

Fromm had a noted college career at the University of Georgia before joining the Bills. Once you play in a National Championship, a preseason game certainly is probably no big deal.

But thinking that and doing it are two different things and to Fromm’s credit, he got the job done.

But of course, he didn’t alone. Bass and his game-winning kick was mentioned, but wide receiver Marquez Stevenson made a fantastic catch as well.

After the win, Fromm made sure to mention the helping hands all around him.

“A great feeling. I think it’s an awesome testament to the group of guys around me,” Fromm said.

“The first three plays didn’t go our way and we didn’t get any points on the first two drives I was in there,” Fromm added. “Glad they kept on fighting.”

Overall, Fromm was 8-for-13 passing against the Lions for 65 yards.

Training camp will continue for the Bills on Sunday afternoon following the contest in Detroit.
