The Buffalo Bills are not the top seed in the AFC heading into the 2024 NFL playoffs. Despite that, they’ve still pulled off some historic accomplishments against the top teams from this season.
According to CBS Sports NFL Research, the Bills (13-3) are the first team in NFL history to beat two teams that won 14 games in the same season:
The Bills have wins vs the 15-1 Chiefs and 14-2 Lions, making them the 1st team in NFL history to beat two 14+ win teams in a season
Josh Allen combined for 747 total yds, 6 TD, 1 TO, 0 times sacked in those games

The Bills won a thriller against the Chiefs in Week 11 in a 30-21 final. Buffalo was cut throat in that one and took the victory.
A few games later in Week 15, the Bills went and handed the Lions a 48-42 loss. While Buffalo would like to see more defense in any outing, that exciting contest naturally featured a lot of good work from quarterback Josh Allen.
Such wins could help Allen’s quest for a 2024 NFL MVP Award, but after all, it is a team game. Everyone from the Bills locker room deserves credit.
And it’s worth noting: Helping Buffalo achieve this is a change to the NFL’s rulebook.
In 2021, the league added a 17th game… that helps in terms of the Chiefs and Lions reaching 14 wins.
Regardless, it’s an impressive accomplishment for the Bills.
