Bills QB Josh Allen: Seahawks will be ‘four-quarter dog fight’

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen, Sean McDermott on Seattle Seahawks and QB Russell Wilson.

If the best defense is a good offense, the Buffalo Bills have a huge task ahead of them.

The Seattle Seahawks lead the NFC West and head to Bills Stadium in Week 9. Their defense is ranked the worst in the NFL and it’s not particularly close. Seattle’s defense, on average, has allowed 30 more yards a game than the next closest team. However, the Seahawks have a 6-1 record..

It doesn’t take much explanation… clearly the Seahawks have an excellent offense to offset their terrible defense. The Bills know that and understand it’s going to be tough to deal with. Bills quarterback Josh Allen might have to do heavy a lot of heavy lifting to counter the Seahawks offense led by quarterback Russell Wilson. Allen said Buffalo’s not expecting that to be an easy task.

“We understand how well the Seahawks are playing. How well the quarterback, Russell Wilson, is playing there. We got no small task this coming week. They’re on top of a lot of statistical categories on the offensive side of the ball. We’ve got to make sure we’re doing our part and try to keep them off the field as much as possible,” Allen said via video conference on Wednesday. “They’ve got some very opportunistic guys on defense, they’re forcing a lot of turnovers, it’s going to be a four quarter dog fight. We understand that.”

Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott will have the even harder task ahead of him. Allen’s going to do his best to keep the ball away from Wilson, but there’s only so much he can do. McDermott’s defense needs to put up at least some sort of a fight, and that’s where the real difficulty sits.

Wilson is the current MVP front-runner in the NFL for a reason after all. He leads the league in several QB categories, from passing touchdowns (26) to passer rating (120.8).

But McDermott, like Allen, knows Wilson & Co. will probably get theirs. Because of that, the coach said the entire Bills roster has to rise to the challenge, not just the defense.

“They present a huge challenge. They won a Super Bowl,” McDermott said. “Russell’s playing at an all-time high, an MVP level. They’ve got weapons and they score a lot of points. It’ll be a big challenge for us defensively and as a team.”

“We recognize they have good players, good scheme. They’re playing at high level. They’re tough, man. They’re really tough. They got against San Francisco and they beat them pretty good there,” McDermott added.
