For the most part, Buffalo Bills players have been quiet in regard to offseason headlines going around, including health and safety issues with a return to football amid the COVID-19 pandemic still running rampant in parts of the United States.
On Sunday, numerous NFL players took to social media and sent out messages at the same time, essentially calling out the league for not having strong enough guidelines. Among them was Bills safety Micah Hyde.
Hyde took to his Twitter account and suggested the league is not doing their part to “keep players healthy.” Here’s Hyde’s message:
If the NFL doesn’t do their part to keep players healthy there is no football in 2020. It’s that simple. #WeWantToPlay

In addition, Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs re-posted a few messages from a few other players in the NFL, including Eric Kendricks and Carson Wentz. Diggs added his own “We Want To Play” message with those posts:

Prior to Sunday, Hyde and Diggs were the only players on the Bills that have spoken up in regard to a return. Hyde said safety is “bigger than football” while Diggs said he’d be lying if he said he felt OK about coming back.
In doing so, these players are showing that the players union and NFL do not appear to be on the same page about safety concerns in terms of bringing teams together. According to reports, issues remaining include coronavirus testing frequency, player opt-out options, and potential acclimation time periods.
In just a few hours, players are set to actually start training camp as well. On July 28, full teams will return to their clubs, but prior to that, rookies are slated to return on Monday and Tuesday. Stay tuned because football might not be as secure as we thoughts.
