The Buffalo Bills have an unrivaled safety tandem in the NFL this season. Both Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer are off to hot starts.
Even Pro Football Focus agrees.
Prior to the Bills’ bye in Week 7, there was only one team in the NFL that had two of the top-five players at the safety position, according to PFF: the Bills.
Overall, Poyer landed at the second-best spot. Hyde rounds out the top five:

Highlighting the play of both Poyer and Hyde this season are their ballhawk abilities. As a team, Buffalo’s plus-11 in turnover differential has them as the best tea in the NFL in that category.
Helping there in a big way is three interceptions from Hyde and another two from Poyer.
Overall, here’s the top-five safeties via PFF’s grading system prior to Buffalo’s bye week:
- Kevin Byard: 86.7 (Titans)
- Jordan Poyer: 77.2 (Bills)
- Tracy Walker: 76.9 (Lions)
- Marcus Williams: 76.6 (Saints
- Micah Hyde: 76.1 (Bills)
