Buffalo Bills defensive end and recently added New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton know each other well. The two were teammates with the Carolina Panthers from 2012, when the defensive end was signed by Brandon Beane back in the day, until just last season.
Addison and Newton, who was the No.1 overall pick at the 2011 NFL Draft, were two of the longest-tenured Panthers players, but the franchise hit the reset button after last year and here we are. Both guys are now in the AFC East.
In light of Newton now potentially lining up against Addison and the Bills defense twice next season, the pass rusher welcomed Newton to the division after news of the signing dropped. Addison posted to his social media account on Instagram and had a picture of Newton in a Patriots uniform with the caption: “I hate imma have to take my dawg head off” with an emoji. Aside from facing Newton twice next year, Addison did wish his former teammate well, though:
Along with Addison, the only other member of the Bills to show some mention of Newton’s surprise signing with the Patriots was another defensive end, Trent Murphy. Previously with the Redskins, Murphy evidently took Newton to the turf before. Murphy posted a video to his Instagram account showing a video of that.
