It’s not set in stone just yet, but there’s a chance that the Buffalo Bills could have tight end Dawson Knox back in the lineup in Week 10 against the New York Jets.
Injured in Buffalo’s loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 6 prior to their bye, Knox had surgery on his broken hand and missed a few games.
On Wednesday, some positive signs on the Knox front happened.
Albeit limited, he did practice. A step in the right direction, bare minimum.
If the Bills do get their tight end back in the fold on Sunday, some teammates are ready for it.
At the top of that list was quarterback Josh Allen.
The QB said Knox, in the midst of a breakout season, is another piece that an opponent simply has to worry about.
“He’s just another guy [as a defense] that you have to focus on, whether you’re putting a linebacker or a safety on him,” Allen said via video conference. “He’s made some plays for us this year. We’re going to need him to keep making plays for us if we want to be successful.”
While Stefon Diggs was also asked on Wednesday about how much more he can get involved in Buffalo’s offense personally moving forward, he wasn’t shy about his desire to want to have Knox back.
Diggs sounds like he’s taking Knox’s potential return as a teammate coming back that can take some attention off of him. The wide receiver also complimented Knox’s replacement.
“I feel like Dawson Knox is an extremely intricate part of our offense,” Diggs said via video conference.”T-Sween (Tommy Sweeney) didn’t do a bad job when he was out there as well, but we got a lot of depth and I think that Knox was another guy that was at such a high level before he got hurt. I look forward to him picking up at where he left off.”
Knox could be returning just in time.
Over the past two games, the Bills have been held without a touchdown in three of four halves of football against the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars, respectively.
Knox, in six games played before injury, has five total touchdowns this year. He also threw one, so he’s averaging one touchdown involvement per game.
That’s already his single-season career high as Knox is turning himself into a promising red zone weapon for the Bills.
