Bills’ Josh Allen makes NFL history with his recent rushing success

After scoring two rushing touchdowns in Sunday’s win over the New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has made history.

The Buffalo Bills know that they have their franchise quarterback in Josh Allen given he’s able to do passing the football. However, he is also making his impact on the field outside of his passing and is even breaking records with his legs for the Bills.

After Allen rushed for two touchdowns in Sunday’s 27-21 win over the New England Patriots, he has now made history among quarterbacks in the Super Bowl Era, according to the NFL’s own “X” social media account. Over the past five games, the Bills won four of the five games, Allen has now become the first quarterback to rush for at least eight touchdowns in a five-game span.

Ever since Allen came onto the scene in the 2018 season, he has been one of the best rushing threats at the quarterback position. Over the past six seasons, Allen has rushed 642 times for 3,544 (5.5 yards per carry), including averaging 6.3 rushing yards per attempt in the 2021 season which tied with then-Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny to lead the league in the category.

For the 2023 season, Allen has run the football 96 times for 457 yards (4.8 yards per carry) which ranks him fourth among quarterbacks in rushing yards and third in rushing yards per attempt. Allen will have to use his legs on Sunday at the Miami Dolphins as the winner of the game will win the AFC East.
