DT Ed Oliver vs. C Maurkice Pouncey
In recent weeks, rookie defensive tackle Ed Oliver has been on fire. He had a little bit of a quiet game last week since Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is so elusive, but in the three games prior to that, Oliver had four sacks in those three. But last week he wasn’t bad, either. He did have five tackles.
With Oliver playing at such a high level after getting his starting spot back, there’s one player it appears Oliver, and fellow tackle Jordan Phillips, can look to exploit: center Maurkice Pouncey. We have 32 teams in the NFL. Pro Football Focus isn’t the end-all-be-all when it comes to their grades, but it’s not a good sign when a player is graded a 43.6 overall this season, good for the 36th best at his position, when he’s a starter. The Steelers’ offensive line has talent on the outside of it, but they’re weaker in the middle, starting with Pouncey.
