Bills at Patriots: 5 matchups to watch

The Buffalo Bills are playoff bound and can make a run at the AFC East if they can beat the dreaded New England Patriots.

Brian Daboll vs. Bill Belichick

Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll has come under fire this season due to how inconsistent the play calling, and general inconsistent play. The Bills are currently ranked 28th in passing with 201.2 yards per game, and have just 19 passing touchdowns. Thankfully for the Bills their rushing attack is ranked 5th in the league with 134.9 yards per game.

An example of this was Buffalo’s last game against the Steelers. In the red zone Daboll gave the ball to running back Frank Gore three times, losing six yards on those three plays. This was a head scratching decision because quarterback Josh Allen has 35 total red zone touchdowns in his career, and zero interceptions. Daboll will need to have his offense playing at a higher level against the vaunted New England defense, who dominated the two teams prior matchup.

On the opposite sideline Patriots head coach Bill Belichick will be leading one of the top defenses, in his two games coaching against Josh Allen and Brian Daboll he’s 2-0. In those two games, Josh Allen has just 370 yards, one touchdown, and five interceptions. Belichick is one of the greatest coaches of all time, and understands how to beat young, inexperienced quarterbacks.

If Buffalo wants to beat New England on Saturday, Daboll will need to create a consistent gameplan, and Allen will need have to take care of the ball.
