Bills at Patriots: 5 matchups to watch

The Buffalo Bills are playoff bound and can make a run at the AFC East if they can beat the dreaded New England Patriots.

John Brown vs. Stephon Gilmore

The Bills will have to face their former first round draft pick, Stephon Gilmore, who will be facing John Brown. Brown is one of the few playmakers on the Bills offense. Brown this season has been the top target for Bills quarterback Josh Allen. This season, he has 1,007 yards, on 71 receptions, an average of 14.1 yards per catch and five touchdowns.

While offensive coordinator  Brian Daboll uses his speed for the occasional down field shot, but he’s been utilized all over the field to create potential matchup problems. If the Buffalo offense wants to create points against this dominant Patriots defense, Brown will need to have an explosive night.

Cornerback Stephon Gilmore is the best cornerback in the league, he’s been holding opposing quarterbacks to a QBR of just 30.4, the best in the league. He’s also tied with Tre’Davious White for the most interceptions in the league with six. He also has 18 pass deflections, which is tied for first in the league. Simply put, quarterbacks don’t do well if they throw it towards Stephon Gilmore.
