Big Ten football recruiting rankings after National Signing Day 2022

Let’s take one final look at how the Big Ten stacked up in the football recruiting rankings for the Class of 2022.

The last time we took a look at the Big Ten football recruiting rankings for the Class of 2022 was on December 1, a few weeks prior to the start of the early signing period and, obviously, well before the traditional signing period we just experienced this past week. So now is probably a good time to take one final look at the Big Ten’s Class of 2022 class rankings before we officially begin to turn the pages toward the Class of 2023, which is already off to a solid start for James Franklin and Penn State.

Penn State was leading the Big Ten recruiting rankings for a good stretch leading up to the start of the early signing period, but the Ohio State Buckeyes once again ended up coming out on top of the national and Big Ten recruiting rankings with another stellar class heading to Columbus. But Ohio State and Penn State each landed in the top 10 of the national rankings. So did the defending Big Ten champion Michigan Wolverines, who closed out is recruiting class in a positive way by moving up eight spots in the national recruiting rankings since the start of December.

Iowa, Maryland, and Nebraska also had some big finishes in the national rankings since the start of December as their respective recruiting classes were coming together. And every team in the Big Ten finished in the top 50 of the national recruiting rankings, once again proving the conference should have more talent and depth throughout the conference compared to every other conference outside of the SEC.

For the sake of reference, all recruiting rankings referenced here are according to the team composite rankings compiled by 247Sports. Recruiting rankings are as of February 5, 2022. The change in national ranking since our December update is also indicated.
