Big 12 Preview: Prospects to watch and team predictions for the 2020 college football season

Iowa State Cyclones- Vegas Win Total- 8

Iowa State is in a good position to beat this number, but it is just too close to call. The Cyclones are an extremely competitive team and have only lost by more than 14 points just once in the past 39 games. That loss was against Notre Dame in the bowl game this past season. Matt Campbell has done a solid job making this team competitive and in his fifth season as coach, they could take the next step. Prediction:  Over 8

Top Prospects:

Charlie Kolar, TE, 6-6, 252 pounds, Jr.: Kolar was All-Big 12 last season and is a favorite to earn All-American honors in 2020. More targets and opportunities are expected of Kolar after he exploded for 697 receiving yards last season.

JaQuan Bailey, DE, 6-2, 255 pounds, Sr.: The All-Big 12 performer was expected to have a big season last year, but was forced to take a medical redshirt due to an early-season injury. The fifth-year senior is currently tied as the school’s career sack leader with 18.5 and this also makes him third among active players in the nation.

Brock Purdy, QB, 6-1, 210 pounds, Jr.: The Cyclones averaged more than 30 points per game for the first time since 1976 and the talented Purdy is the biggest reason this offense was so explosive last season. In his 13 starts, Purdy accumulated 3,982 passing yards, 27 touchdowns and only threw nine interceptions.
