The Big 12 conference released their 2020 Tennis Preseason Poll on Twitter moments ago, where Texas claimed the No. 1 spot for women’s and the No. 2 spot for men’s.

After snagging six first-place votes, this is now the third time in program history where women’s tennis has topped the preseason rankings at Texas. Oklahoma State trailed the Longhorns by three first-place votes.

The men’s tennis rankings were much tighter. In fact, both Texas and Baylor finished with three first-place votes, but Baylor took the No. 1 spot in a one point difference.

It’s understandable why the rankings are so close on the men’s side, as Baylor finished the 2019 season as Big 12 Champions and the No. 6 team in the country.

However, the Texas men’s tennis team took home the 2019 NCAA National Championship, it’s first in school history.
