No. 8 – John Lovett, Baylor
Another senior running back in the Big 12, John Lovett is back for his fourth season with Baylor. Leading the team in rushing last season with 655 yards, Lovett also split time with JaMycal Hasty.
With Hasty now gone, the full-time role will be there for Lovett. His 6.4 yards per carry last season was third in the conference, only behind Kennedy Brooks and Chuba Hubbard. Dave Aranda will have a trusty running back in his first season at Baylor.
No. 7 – SaRod0rick Thompson, Texas Tech
For a team that passed the ball 531 times last season, SaRodorick Thompson had a productive season. His 765 rushing yards last season finished eighth and his 12 touchdowns finished third in the Big 12.
More of the same will be expected this year as Thompson enters his redshirt sophomore season. Only Kansas West Virginia ran the ball less than Texas Tech last season, giving Thompson 160 carries last season. A slight uptick in touches and Thompson could reach 1,000 yards.
