Eli Howard gets it going off the edge
Texas Tech defensive end Eli Howard will lineup across from right tackle Christian Jones. In the opener, Howard didn’t record a sack before forced nine quarterback hurries against Houston Baptist. He will be one of the keys for this defense on Saturday afternoon. Can he get into the backfield?
Against UTEP, Jones allowed two total pressures on 40 drop backs. Can Howard get beyond Jones and make Ehlinger feel pressure on his front side? This marks only Jones’ second game as a starter for the Longhorns. Can the experienced Howard give him trouble off the edge? The senior has 12.5 sacks for the Red Raiders and looking to add to it.
