Obviously splitting apart Texas and Oklahoma in separate divisions would beg the question of the Red River Rivalry. That game would need remain as the annual event. The Red River Rivalry would play each season along with the five games in their division. Then a rotation of non-divisional opponents every other season. That would give each team eight conference games each year.

This would allow them to go back to four nonconference games provided they return to a 12-game schedule in 2021. If they remain at 10, then each school could schedule two nonconference opponents. With the coronavirus situation and not knowing if or when it will become normal again, there is the idea of just playing 10 games. With just 10, could we see an expansion of the College Football Playoffs?
