The Texas Division (South)

Then we have the new South Division. Or what we will call the Texas or Lone Star Division. Of course this involves all schools in Texas. We start with the four from the current conference makeup. Baylor, Texas, Texas Christian and Texas Tech. To make this an even dozen again, the Big 12 would add Houston and Southern Methodist.

This would add two teams from major metro areas in Dallas and Houston. Both teams were in the old Southwest Conference before it broke apart in 1997 with the creation of the Big 12 Conference. This would bring back two divisions with six teams a piece. The winner of the Texas Division would play the winner of the North Division in the Big 12 Championship game.

The Texas Division:

  1. Baylor Bears
  2. Houston Cougars
  3. Southern Methodist Mustangs
  4. Texas Longhorns
  5. Texas Christian Horned Frogs
  6. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Next we look at the schedule and playoff expansion.
