When the original betting odds came out for the Rose Bowl featuring Ohio State and Utah, the Buckeyes were about a touchdown favorite when you looked across most of the sportsbooks.
That was before four key contributors for OSU opted out of playing in the Rose Bowl. Now that we have that news, and people have gotten a better look at Utah, the line is moving closer to the Utes favor — at least according to the Tipico online sportsbook. Tipico had Ohio State as a 6.5 point favorite when things first circulated, but now that’s down to just a 4.5 advantage a couple of days out from the game Saturday.

This is just how things work in the land of big betting. When you start to see things line up differently, whether it be injuries, or in this case some key players out, it’ll almost always change the line in favor of the team that isn’t affected by player unavailability.

We’ll keep an eye on whether the line continues to trend further towards Utah or not as we get even closer.
