Bengals teammates praise ‘maniac’ Joe Burrow for gritting through injury

Joe Burrow set the tone for the locker room while playing through his injury.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow set the tone for his locker room by toughing it out with the calf injury during the team’s win over the Los Angeles Rams.

Exiting that victory, Bengals players have been more than open about how it impacted the entire team.

“I think this is him,” wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “He just proved it tonight playing hurt, too. He’s Joe Cool, Joe Brrr. Whatever you want. He’s that guy.”

And then there’s center Ted Karras: “Proud of Joe Burrow. What a maniac he is going out there and gritting out a win on a hurt calf.”

While the stats weren’t the most impressive for obvious reasons, Burrow’s grit over the course of 49 pass attempts in the face of an Aaron Donald-led defense had a huge impact.

The result? A 1-2 mark instead of 0-3, with the hope that Burrow can keep recovering while starting.
