The Cincinnati Bengals expect to get rookie wide receiver Charlie Jones back soon.
But not for Sunday night against the Buffalo Bills.
Speaking with reporters before that “Sunday Night Football” showdown, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor revealed that while Jones won’t return this week, he could be back as soon as next week.
Jones had a thumb injury and surgery that landed him on injured reserve and he was first eligible to return this week.
The Bengals could certainly use his explosiveness on special teams returns after his big debut as a pro over the first few weeks featured a touchdown return. This is especially the case with Houston, Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Jacksonville on the schedule starting in Week 10.
Quietly, Jones’ status will be something to watch after Sunday’s game against the Bills.
