It seems a forgone conclusion the Cincinnati Bengals will attack offensive tackle, tight end and running back in some order over the opening three or four rounds of the draft.
Cincinnati’s smooth maneuvering through free agency has allowed such an idea and it’s one that continues to dominate mock drafts.
In the latest three-round effort from Gordon McGuinness of Pro Football Focus, the Bengals hit on some of the usual names:
Round 1: TE Dalton Kincaid, Utah
Round 2: OT Matthew Bergeron, Syracuse
Round 3: DeWayne McBride, UAB
By now, Kincaid is a well-known name for Bengals fans after his 16 total receiving touchdowns over the last two seasons. So is Bergeron, a 6’5″, 318-pound mauler of a run blocker who could fit nicely at right tackle.
McBride might be the most unknown name at this point, but he’s a stellar value in the third round after running for 1,713 yards and 19 touchdowns on a 7.4 average last year.
While the best player available strategy might move the Bengals into an unexpected position over the first three rounds, the above scenario would make for a very nice haul.
