Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky nominated for FedEx’s Air Player of the Week

Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky had his best outing of the season in a convincing 36-7 win over the Texans, which garnered him recognition.

Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has been impressive since his return to the starting line-up in Week 12. But it was his Week 14 performance against the Houston Texans that was his most impressive outing of the season.

Trubisky led the Bears offense to 28 first-half points, where he threw for three touchdowns, to jump out to a commanding 30-7 lead at halftime. Trubisky finished 24-of-33 passes (72.7%) for 267 yards with three scores, no turnovers and a 126.7 passer rating.

That performance garnered Trubisky a nomination for FedEx’s Air Player of the Week, where he’s up against the likes of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Denver Broncos quarterback Drew Lock.

After being benched in the third quarter back in Week 3, Trubisky got a second chance at the starting job in Week 12, where he’s made the most of his situation. Trubisky has looked solid since his benching, which has transferred over to the offense as a whole.

The Bears offense has averaged over 30 points a game over the last three games, where Trubisky has completed 76-of-113 passes (67.2%) for 776 yards with seven touchdowns and two interceptions for a 103.2 passer rating.
