Bears expected to sign RB D’Onta Foreman

The Bears are adding to their running back room with the signing of D’Onta Foreman to a one-year deal.

The Chicago Bears are signing former Carolina Panthers running back D’Onta Foreman, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

It’s a one-year deal worth $3 million, per Schefter.

Foreman is an explosive running back, who runs a 4.4. Last season with the Panthers, Foreman had a breakout season after stepping in for Christian McCaffrey, who was traded to the San Francisco 49ers.

Foreman rushed for 915 yards in 17 games with nine starts. He averaged 4.5 yards per carry. Foreman also eclipsed 100 rushing yards in five games, including a 165-yard outing against the Detroit Lions in Week 15.

Former Bears running back David Montgomery departed in free agency, signing with NFC North rivals, the Detroit Lions. Now, Khalil Herbert has some new running mates.

Foreman is the second running back signed by general manager Ryan Poles since the start of free agency, joining backup and special teams ace Travis Homer on the roster.
