The return of college football is right around the corner and the Badgers are now 62 days away from their opener versus Buffalo on Sept. 2. With Luke Fickell at the helm, Wisconsin will look to end their 23-year streak without a Rose Bowl win.

Although the team didn’t win, during the 1962 Rose Bowl (held in Jan. 1963), quarterback Ron Vander Kelen threw for a record (at the time) 401 passing yards. The Badgers lost the contest 42-37 to the USC Trojans, but the passing yards remained the record for over 30 years until it was broken in 1995 by Oregon’s QB Danny O’Neil.

In 2023, the Badgers are expected to be led by transfer quarterback Tanner Mordecai under the tutelage of offensive coordinator Phil Longo and his “Air Raid” offense. Who knows, maybe a new record will be set by a Wisconsin QB in January.
