Hawks at Hornets: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Hawks 126, Hornets 108

Money line (ML)

The HAWKS (-200) can be backed for the outright win, albeit at a chalkier price. Both teams shot just 38% from the field in Wednesday’s meeting, but Atlanta was undone by a disastrous 7-for-40 performance from 3-point range. The Hawks are shooting 36.2% from three for the season to rank 15th in the NBA.

The Hornets used a 36-point fourth quarter to cap a comeback victory over the Pelicans Friday. They trailed 38-22 after the opening 12 minutes but turned it on late and got 27 points off turnovers to the Pelicans’ 14.

Hawks PG Trae Young, an early MVP contender with 25.9 points per game and 8.4 assists per game, will have a key edge against the tired Hornets backcourt.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Hawks are the No. 1 rebounding team in the NBA with 49.0 rebounds per game while the Hornets are 14th at 44.9 RPG. Factor in the tired legs and a weaker defensive effort, and Hawks C Clint Capela should add to his 13.2 RPG average for the season.

Take the rested HAWKS -5.5 (-105) to get some revenge against a tired opponent. Atlanta was a 6-point favorite Wednesday, so we’re getting better value as it looks to end a three-game losing skid.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the OVER 228.5 (-110). These two fell way below a projected line of 232.5 Wednesday, but that was with both teams shooting well below their season averages from 2- and 3-point range. A little positive regression from either side will get to the Over on a line 5 points lower than it was three days ago.
