Assessing the Celtics at season’s midpoint: The sky’s not falling, but it sure is ugly to watch

A lot of what we are seeing was likely baked into this roster, but that doesn’t mean there’s no blame to be had for the product

The Boston Celtics are stuck around .500 in yet another season where fans probably had bigger expectations than their favorite team probably warranted, but when you hold the league record (albeit tied in recent years with a team we will not mention at present) in titles won, that is part the package.

The team has a mess to clean up internally and has been doing a solid job in that regard. But, the retooling has also created — and this is putting it mildly — a nearly unwatchable product at times. At other times, the star talent that is on the roster even without the complimentary players needed to elevate their play can still produce spectacular results.

But fans are being punished when that doesn’t happen, which is more often than not.
