Another day, another ladder climb for UNC star [autotag]Armando Bacot[/autotag], who surpassed Bill Russell in NCAA history for rebounding.

Bacot entered Saturday’s game against the Virginia Cavaliers needing four rebounds to surpass Russell’s career rebounds (1606). Bacot accomplished this in the second half against the Virginia Cavaliers, moving him to 13th all-time in NCAA history.

Rebounding has been one stat that Bacot has been proud of, in January he spoke with the media about why his UNC rebounding record meant the most to him.

” I feel like that’s something that Carolina as a school is built on. Even from my first day being here, just Coach Rob and Coach Williams always talked to me about rebounding and, that being so pivotal. I think it’s something that won’t be broken, so probably that.”

Moving up the rebound ladder adds to the Bacot Tar Heel legacy he is leaving behind. As he now sits on the heels of 12th place Charlie Tyra (1617), we will likely be celebrating another move up next game.
