Arkansas basketball: Battle 4 Atlantis schedule set, Razorbacks to face Stanford in first round

Arkansas draws Stanford in first round of Battle 4 Atlantis, but fans may look ahead to a possible rivalry game in the second round.

The games for the 2023 [autotag]Battle 4 Atlantis[/autotag] have been officially set. Arkansas will face Stanford in the opening round of the eight-team tournament. The full tournament features 12 games played from November 22-24 in the Bahamas.

Last season, Stanford went 14-19 (7-13) and missed out on postseason action in the seventh season under head coach Jerrod Haase. This season, the Cardinal were able to add McDonald’s All-American forward Andrej Stojakovic and top-40 guard Kanaan Carlyle. Expect Stanford to be much more competitive in 2023.

Like the Maui Invitational last year, this 2023 Battle 4 Atlantis field is stacked. Looking at the other three games and the group of teams is extremely competitive. North Carolina will face Northern Iowa in the first game of the tournament. Don’t scoff – Northern Iowa is a talented mid-major program that will probably make some noise

In the second game of the tournament, Villanova and Texas Tech will compete. Those two schools that are no strangers to deep tournament runs, usually in March. The other matchup is Michigan and Memphis, two programs with very rich basketball history.

The winner of Arkansas-Stanford will go on to play the winner of Michigan-Memphis the following day. Conversely, the losers of those two games will face each other also. If both the Razorbacks and Memphis Tigers are able to win, we could see the rekindling of an old, classic basketball rivalry this year.

Arkansas and Stanford are scheduled to tip-off at 6:30 p.m. CT on November 22 and can be seen on ESPNU.
