What’s Going To Happen
Appalachian State can lock up the Sun Belt East title with a win over a Texas State that’s lost four of its last five games.
The Mountaineers overcame the loss to Georgia Southern with two straight wins, but just finishing the regular season 11-1 – needing to beat Troy next week to do that – and isn’t enough. They want another Sun Belt title, and they want to stay in the race for the Group of Five champion’s New Year’s Six bowl slot.
That shouldn’t be an issue against a Bobcat team that’s can’t run the ball and just don’t score enough.
To beat Appalachian State, a Sun Belt team has to be able to grind a bit, crank up third down conversions, and win the turnover margin. TXST can’t do anything of those things.
ASU won’t rub it in, but they’re looking impress the College Football Playoff committee. It’ll put up a big number.
