An update on Vikings WR Adam Thielen’s injury

“He got a knee to the thigh, so he’s got a thigh bruise,” Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said of Thielen.

The Vikings received a blow to their offense when Adam Thielen was forced to leave the team’s preseason game against the Colts Saturday.

But based on a quote from Minnesota coach Mike Zimmer, Thielen’s injury does not appear to be too serious.

“He got a knee to the thigh, so he’s got a thigh bruise,” Zimmer said (H/T PFT’s Mike Florio).

According to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin, after Thielen suffered the injury, he went over to the trainer’s table, but left shortly after to join the receiver group.

Vikings fans may have some difficulty believing what’s publicly said out of the Minnesota camp, due to the Danielle Hunter saga last year. However, it’s still a good sign that Thielen’s injury doesn’t seem dire as of now.

If Thielen does end up missing time, the Vikings could be in trouble. Outside of Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen and Dede Westbrook, the team does not have a lot of depth at wideout.

Those three can make for a good position group, but Jefferson and Thielen have both been dinged up this offseason, while Westbrook is still recovering from an ACL tear. Minnesota has to get healthy at wideout. And stay healthy for 2021.
