Alabama to face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in first round of NCAA Tournament

Top overall seed Alabama will take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the first round of the NCAA Tournament!

Alabama’s round of 64 matchup is officially set and the top-seeded Crimson Tide will face off against the Islanders of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in Birmingham on Thursday afternoon.

After winning the Southland Conference Tournament, the Islanders defeated SE Missouri State on Tuesday night, 75-71 in Dayton to advance into the first-round matchup against Nate Oats and the Tide.

Texas A&M-CC is 24-10 on the season but has only played three power five schools (Mississippi State, Arizona, and Oklahoma State) and suffered lopsided defeats in all three matchups, losing those three games by a combined score of 243-163.

Alabama and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi are set to tipoff in Birmingham’s BJCC Arena on CBS Thursday afternoon at 1:45 p.m. CT.
