Alabama empty handed in Rd. 1 of the 2020 MLB Draft, will any be drafted?

No Alabama players were selected in the first round of the 2020 MLB draft. Will there be a chance for a Crimson Tide product to be drafted?

Night No. 1 of the 2020 MLB draft left the Alabama Crimson Tide empty handed. Overall, nine players from SEC programs were selected.

Tomorrow will conclude the draft as rounds No. 2-5 will be conducted. This year’s draft is drastically different than previous years since they have cut down from 40 rounds to now only having five.

One Alabama player who is expected to have his name called is junior outfielder Tyler Gentry.

In two seasons at the NCAA level with Alabama – one of which being an abbreviated season – Gentry appeared in 73 games where he had a batting average of .335, 17 homers, 63 RBI’s, OBP of .420 and only 61 strikeouts.

These stats landed the 6 feet, two inches 210 pound outfielder a ranking of No. 81 on ESPN’s top-200 MLB prospects.
