Alabama Baseball sweeps series against High Point with 4-2 win in Game 3

No. 20 Alabama defeated High Point by a final score of 4-2 in Game 3 of the series. The Tide sweeped the Panthers this weekend.

The Alabama baseball team took the sweep against High Point with a 4-2 win on Sunday afternoon.

Alabama did not string together many hits in Game 3 of the series. However, the Tide’s offense did just enough to come away with the win.

Ed Johnson led the way at the plate with one hit, two walks, and one run batted in. Johnson also scored a run in Alabama’s winning effort.

Graduate senior Jacob McNairy led the way on the mound. McNairy pitched five innings on Sunday allowing five hits and two earned runs. The bullpen performed well, as redshirt-freshman Kade Woods threw two scoreless innings while also striking out five batters.

Freshman Riley Quick picked up the save for Alabama when he was called to action in the ninth inning and shut down the Panthers’ offense.

Alabama improves to 8-0 while High Point falls to 3-4 on the new season. The Tide will return to the Joe for a midweek matchup against Jacksonville State on Wednesday. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. CST and will be airing on SEC Network+.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the baseball program as the 2023 season progresses.
