The Alabama Crimson Tide (6-0, 3-0 SEC) and Tennessee Volunteers (5-0, 2-0) tangle in a highly anticipated top-10 battle on Saturday. Kickoff at Neyland Stadium will be at 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Alabama vs. Tennessee odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.
Alabama has survived a couple of scares over its first half-dozen games. The most recent of those close calls was last Saturday when the Crimson Tide got by Texas A&M 24-20 without 2021 Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young, who did not play in that game and is questionable for this game (shoulder).
The Volunteers have also had a couple of close calls this season, but they breezed by LSU 40-13 last week. Tennessee piled up 502 total yards in that game, and it was the team’s lowest output since Sept. 10. The Vols rank 1st in FBS in total offense (547.8 yards per game) and 2nd in scoring offense (46.8 points per game).
Alabama is No. 1 and Tennessee is No. 8 in the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Alabama at Tennessee picks and predictions
Prediction
Alabama 42, Tennessee 31
Moneyline
A perhaps over-amped Vols squad has been through back-to-back weeks against physical competition. The Vols are a plus-5 in turnovers. With Alabama’s less-than-dominant play goes the note the Tide is a minus-6 in turnovers.
PASS on the current tag. But for bettors with larger bankrolls, Alabama at -300 or better is a workable play.
Against the spread
The older this young Tide defense gets, the better off UA is. Alabama is a lean here, but only to -8. PASS on a higher number.
Over/Under
Even with backup QB Jalen Milroe at the helm of the offense, the visiting side can get its fair share of this total. And Tennessee should be able to pass its way to respectability if playing from behind.
TAKE THE OVER 66.6 (-110).
