[autotag]Kaulig Racing[/autotag] announced on Thursday morning that [autotag]A.J. Allmendinger[/autotag] will return to the NASCAR Xfinity Series and drive the No. 16 car full-time. Also, Kaulig Racing said Allmendinger will run select events in the NASCAR Cup Series with an undetermined schedule. This comes after Chandler Smith left the Xfinity Series program.
Allmendinger was previously full-time with the organization in the Xfinity Series in 2021 and 2022 before moving up to the Cup Series. In 2023, Allmendinger won the Cup Series race at the Charlotte ROVAL while earning two Xfinity Series victories in five starts. Now, he will push for a championship in the Xfinity Series once again.

Overall, this is a great decision by Kaulig Racing, as it allows Allmendinger to compete every week. This is the organization’s best opportunity at winning races, and while Allmendinger deserves a spot in the Cup Series, a championship will be within reach. Kaulig Racing has yet to announce Allmendinger’s replacement in the No. 16 Cup car.
